​Burnout Prevention Strategies

This course is suitable to anyone working in a stressful job, workplace or profession or at risk of being impacted by the stresses inherent in what they do.

Participants will be provided with different frameworks and theories explaining the development of burnout some background on the development of the concept. Participants will learn about the signs, symptoms, and possible consequences of burnout.

​Burnout is a serious issue for both individuals and organisations.

Burnout is a term used to describe the consequences of severe and prolonged stress and high ideals experienced by people working in “helping” professions. This is thought to be partly because of the high-stress work environment, and emotional demands of the job.

Although Occupational, professional and workplace burnout is still typically found within human service professions. It seems it can affect anyone, from stressed-out careerists and celebrities to over-worked employees and homemakers.

Responding to signs of burnout is important. A number of strategies are presented to assist in preventing and minimising the impact of burnout are also provided.

• Identify some of it’s causes
• Recognise the role of long term stress
• Develop self care strategies to assist in prevention
